Increased field of view and tighter channel distribution
The Velodyne VLP-16 Hi-Res or “Puck Hi-Res” is a higher resolution version of the VLP-16 or Puck and is used in applications that require greater resolution in the captured 3D image. The VLP-16 Hi-Res LiDAR scanner has identical performance to the VLP-16, the only differences being the vertical field of view (FoV) which is 20° instead of 30°, which delivers a tighter channel distribution of 1.33° instead of 2.00° between channels. The VLP-16 Hi-Res retains the patented 360° surround view to capture real-time 3D LiDAR data that includes distance and calibrated reflectivity measurements.
In essence, the VLP-16 Hi-Res will enable the host system to not only detect, but also better discern, objects at greater distances.
